Description

Converted from Elgin West Brewery in 1897, the Glen Moray distillery was owned by Glenmorangie plc until it was purchased in 2008 by La Martiniquaise. This peated single malt Scotch whisky balances smoky intensity with classic Speyside smoothness. It is crafted with peated barley malt and aged in American oak casks for undertones of vanilla and oak.

Nose
On the nose, a pleasant combination of soft vanilla and gentle peat aromas emerges, harmonizing beautifully. An intriguing sweet-bitter nuance of rhubarb joins the mix, lending the aroma a slightly fruity freshness. A subtle hint of old leather lingers in the background, giving the aroma a warm, slightly rustic depth.
Palate
On the palate, the peat smoke becomes significantly more pronounced. Creamy vanilla malt and soft campfire smoke intertwine. A medicinal flicker adds edge, balanced by orchard fruits and warming spice.
Finish
Gently fades with lingering peat sweetness and subtle fruit echoes. Not too long, sweet and smoky, with some liquorice and ashes.
