Description

A Speyside malt distillery that was originally built as a brewery in 1828 before converting to whisky production in 1897. It was an important part of the Macdonald & Muir portfolio in the 20th century, however as of 2008 has been owned by the La Martinquaise division of COFEPP in France.

An initial combination of sweet toffee and chocolate fades into a decadent aroma of caramel chocolate.
Palate
Opens with a big hit of tannic intensity. Leather and wood combine creating a whisky of great stature which slowly mellows to offer warming winter elements of crème toffee-drizzled figs, dark plum fruits and blackberries drizzled in cream.

A gentle profile of thick runny honey.
