Description

The Glenallachie Distillery Edition was introduced in 2016 as part of the short-lived launch of a Glenallachie single malt brand by Chivas Brothers. It was discontinued when the distillery was sold to Billy Walker and his consortium in late 2017. This light and approachable Speyside single malt is matured in traditional refill ex-bourbon casks, offering notes of warm malt, crisp apples, honey, vanilla, cream, silky fudge, marmalade, peaches, biscuits and custard. It was the first ongoing release from Glenallachie since the 12 Year Old in the 1980s.

Nose
Caramel-dipped apples and pears, with hints of brown sugar and digestive biscuits, sweet vanilla undertones, golden apples, honey, lemon candy, milk biscuits, light toffee, floral notes, and a little citrus mixture of lemon and grapefruit.
Palate
Oodles of vanilla, with a zesty kick of fresh citrus at the centre, creamy highland toffee, malty cereal barley, hints of citrus fruits, quite crisp, and a hint of something mineralic.
Finish
Fruity esters last long, medium length, easy-going, with syrupy notes, malt, a little plain wood, spices, oak, and vanilla.
