Description

A Speyside malt distillery located in the town after which it is named. It was built in 1967 by Mackinlay-McPherson and was traded around several notable distilling companies before being sold to Billy Walker in 2017. Under current ownership, its single malt has emerged as a well-respected brand. This particular release is a Glenallachie 1989 Single PX Hogshead Cask 31 Year Old, Cask #6117, part of Europe Batch 6.

Rich wood notes of sandalwood and potpourri, balsamic and spicy hints, with cherries in spirits, blackberry and blueberry jam, chocolate, orange, rhubarb, tamarind, cola, and panettone with raisins. Deep notes of figs, dates, and raisins with evolving spice aromas.
Palate
Predominantly sherry-driven with liqueur, explosive and sticky cherries in spirit, hypermature red orange, malaga cream, panettone, sultanas, dark chocolate, cocoa beans, herbaceous and caramel notes, cola, tamarind, rhubarb, and resin. Intense dried fruits and deep PX and honey-like sweetness.
Finish
Long and very sweet, with jam, sweet licorice, moist wooden thread, malaga cream, almond paste, soft oakiness, and mild spices.
