Description

Built in 1891, Glenallachie did not begin production until 1898. The whisky from this distillery initially was destined for the White Horse blend, but since Bacardi's takeover in 1998, the majority of its output now heads for the Dewar's range. Waves of heather honey, toffee and cocoa, with peaches, almonds, orange zest and nutmeg. Bakewell tart, orange chocolate, and chai spices, with whiffs of honeyed florals.
Palate
Crystallised ginger, dried apricot, and summer berries, along with dry wood spices. Layers of toffee, heather honey, cocoa and peaches, fused with red berries, ginger and nutmeg.
Finish
Chocolate-coated cherry, and toffee. Good length, on toffee and mocha, earthy wood spice, mint and raisins.
