Description

The Glencadam distillery, founded in 1825, has been owned by Angus Dundee Plc since 2003. This Glencadam Reserva PX is a 17-year-old single malt, distilled in 2006, and was initially matured in exceptional ex-bourbon American oak casks. The whisky was then expertly married and finished in the finest Pedro Ximénez Sherry quarter casks from Andalucia, Spain, which impart unique flavours, depth, and complexity. Indulgent aromas of sticky toffee pudding, black cherries, salted caramel and maple syrup mingled with dark berry fruits and cocoa powder, with festive spices, stewed fruit, gingerbread, dark chocolate, and oily walnuts. Immediate sweet & sugary fruits, plum jam, ripe red apples, raisins, candied walnuts, thick molasses, and rich baking notes like cinnamon, brown sugar & vanilla.
Palate
Rich layers of Black Forest gateaux, blackcurrant liquorice, cappuccino and créme caramel married with dates, prunes and sweet spices. Berry coulis, oak spice, and caramel with coffee and cinnamon pastries. Dominating sweetness with malty complexities like pie crust, jelly donut, icing sugar, apple streudel, fruit candy, cherry coke, grape juice, and blueberry muffin.
Finish
Chocolate cherry liqueurs, frangipane tarts and golden raisins fading into espresso coffee and cosy cake spices. Layers of dark fruit and ginger biscuits, with a coating sweetness that is short and light.
