Description

The Glendronach Grandeur 24 Year Old Batch 005 is a superb single malt from the Highland-based Glendronach Distillery's Grandeur series. This fifth batch release was specially selected by Master Distiller Billy Walker and matured for 24 years in Oloroso Sherry casks. Bottled in 2014 at 48.9% ABV, this expression is one of only 600 bottles produced and comes presented in a deluxe wooden box. It represents the deep heritage and craftsmanship of the Glendronach distillery, offering a rich depth of flavor and carefully aged character.

A carefully woven tapestry of stone fruit, baked quince and glazed cherries on a seductive bed of sandalwood, roast chestnuts and subtle musk-scented leather. Concentrated dried fruit, rich sherry, dark chocolate, toasted oak and delicate nutty aromas.
Palate
An elegant, deep and perfectly integrated palate combines a myriad of sherry cask tastes; an initial burst of rich sherry-laced fruitcake intriguingly opens up to reveal baked orange, sultana and luscious black cherries. Layered fig, raisin, spiced wood and subtle dark berry notes unfold with a silky full-bodied texture.
Finish
As time slowly passes, the taste lengthens and deepens towards an elegant dark chocolate mint, raisin and angelica root velvet finish. Long and smooth with lingering oak and spice.
