Nose
Sweet, creamy vanilla, hints of ginger, spiced mulled wine and pear. Rich cereals, struck match, raisin, cinnamon, caramelised sugar, raw ginger, hazelnuts. Intense and elegantly sherried, with pastry-like notes, custard, nuts, dried fruit (apricots, cherries, raisins), caramel, spices, citrus, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and a touch of ginger.
Palate
Rich, creamy, and silky-smooth. Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, full mouth feel, raisins and soft fruits. Spicy with medium length and a dry finish. Fruits, peels, buttery, pain au chocolat, marmalade on toast, firmer and nuttier with spiced raisins. Christmas cake flavours, oak spice, boozy tingle, red fruits, cherries and berries, cinnamon, clove, and ginger spices. Good body, dark and syrupy, sweet with notes of oxidised sherry, dates, raisins, woodspice, black pepper, ginger bread, fresh ginger, and lightly herbal.
Finish
Spicy with medium length and a dry finish. Smoky toffee and nut brittle. Quite short and not particularly intense, oaky, a bit of milk chocolate, dried apricots and raisins, and a lingering nuttiness. Decent length with raisin fruitiness, fresh ginger, and black peppery heat. Fairly long and oily, rounded with notes of dried apricot, blackberries, dark bread, quality chocolate/cocoa beans, cashew nuts, pain au chocolat/sweet pastry, and oaky bitterness.
