- Nose
- Strong and rich, on syrupy dark fruits, raisin and fig, musty dank earth and wet leaves, touches of cough syrup and vanilla, and some hints of oak, pepper, baking spice, and coffee. Delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits - notably blackberries and red plums. Rich Oloroso sherry and candied orange segments. Spiced oatmeal biscuits and toasted oak fragrances.
- Palate
- Plenty of oak tannins, tobacco, nutmeg, and clove, but fairly well balanced by sweet dark fruits and a touch of cream, vanilla, and cinnamon. Golden syrup, soft, juicy raisins, tangy oak notes, peach, cherry blossom, cocoa and honeydew melon. Flavors of Oloroso sherry and bitter chocolate sauce, spread liberally over homemade plum pudding, infused with fabulous spicy notes - cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Full bodied with smooth tannins.
- Finish
- Sweet dark dried fruits becoming more assertive initially, followed by a wave of tannic oak, dark chocolate, and coffee, with the chocolate and coffee lingering for a while. Sherry tones lead the finish, with a hint of sulphur, chocolate, luscious fruit and pepper. Long and lingering.
