Description

In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice, along with a consortium of local farmers, founded the distillery and began producing his "Guid GlenDronach" single malt. Unfortunately Allardice's marketing strategy of offering free drams to Edinburgh's "ladies of night", coupled with a fire at the distillery in 1837, led to him declaring bankruptcy. Thankfully however, the story doesn't end ...

Nose
Nose. Sweet and bright. Hints of raspberry, strawberry and even a little citrus. Baking spices also pop up along the way, giving warmth and depth. Palate. Supremely fruity - masses of apple, red berry and fig notes. Tobacco leaf, black pepper and more oak than the 15 Year Old expression give it complexity. Finish. Oak continues on to the well balanced finish - spicy but sweet.
