Description

A Scottish distillery that was intermittently operational between 1897 and 1985, at different times producing both malt and grain while also bearing five different names. Despite its closure, its maltings are still active under ownership of Pauls Malt.

Nose
Grassy and oily with fruit peels (apples, walnuts, almonds), paraffin, linseed oil, and cut grass. Hints of grapefruit and roses, with orchard fruits, honey, barley sugar, light vanilla, and a waxy, oily character.
Palate
Very good with a fatness typical of old distilleries. Notes of grass, wax, lemon, chalk, and citrons, showcasing purity. Also garden fruits, waxy/paraffin notes, and hints of grassy/resinous notes and tobacco, with sweet citrusy undertones. Smooth and warming.
Finish
Medium, concise, and precise, with lemon, grass, and wax. Slightly bittersweet with a fruity-grassy touch. Long and warming.
