Description

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 60% ABV (105 British proof), from which it takes its name. It was the first official cask strength single malt whisky of its kind, originally created in 1968. This no-age-statement expression is matured in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, often Oloroso sherry casks, and is known for its rich, sherried, and spicy profile. It is non-chill filtered and presented at natural color.

Nose
Complex, oaky, with rich sherry, dark fruits (sultanas, cherries, figs, raisins), apples, pears, butterscotch, toffee, cocoa, citrus peels, and a hint of nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds).
Palate
Dry and assertive, with a powerful attack. Flavors of rich spiciness (ginger, clove, nutmeg, pepper), dark chocolate, orange peel, dried fruits, toffee, and oak. It can be intense at full strength, but water can reveal more complexity and a creamy mouthfeel.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering spiciness, sherry, dried fruits, and oak. Notes of cocoa, pepper, and a sweet, sometimes slightly bitter, aftertaste.
