Description

Still in family hands since it was founded, the Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Speyside's independent whisky producers. The Grant family has been running Glenfarclas since 1860, producing an individual Speyside malt that many whisky enthusiasts number as one of their favourites. The water source is melt water from the slopes of Ben Rinnes which runs through granite and heather before reaching Gl .... This is a special 'TWE Exclusive' edition, bottled at cask strength (103° proof / 58.6% abv) to celebrate Glenfarclas 15 Year Old being named The Whisky Exchange's Whisky of the Year for 2013-14.

Nose
An explosion in a spice factory. A swathe of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, followed by boozy sultanas and hot-cross-bun dough, then a clean note of barley and honeyed fruit.
Palate
If you're feeling brave, you can try this neat, but a drop of water would be sensible – do so, and you're rewarded with rich, spicy fruit cake, balanced by earthy liquorice and a backbone of classy oak.
Finish
The boozy fruit and rich spices fight it out.
