Nose
Full-bodied aroma. Rich raisin notes with a hint of sourness, cinnamon spice, slight toffee/vanilla/oak, and a hint of wood smoke. Creamy, malt-rich, dried fruits, mild nutty with dark spices (cardamom, clove, cinnamon), mocca notes. Red berries macerated in sugar, plums, dates, caramel sweetness, nutty character.
Palate
Much greater presence of peat than nose suggests, smokiness quickly hits then tapers off. Oily, rich fruit sweetness (stewed fruit), hints of charcoal, cinnamon/oak spice. Spicy heat, orange oil, dark chocolate, baking spices, toasted nuts (walnuts, almonds), dark dried fruit, sweet malt, faint heathery peat smoke. Full-bodied and smooth, rich fruitcake, sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, clove.
Finish
Smooth and long. Spice tingle continues with long-lasting warmth, buttery/creamy mouthfeel. Faint oaky bitterness, bitter almond, faint residual wood smoke. Reminiscent of Christmas pudding and mince pie filling. Long heated exit, brown sugar, toffee, sherry flavours. Dark bittersweet chocolate and rich baking spices linger. Medium to long, red fruit moves into crumbly raisin fudge, red berries linger. Long and elegant, lingering notes of spiced oak, raisins, and a touch of smoke.
