Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This 25 year old single malt from Glenfarclas spent its days in 100% Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in a complex and delicately sherried whisky.

Nose
Complex and refined, with aromas of marmalade, honey, freshly ground coffee, sweet sherry, and nuts. Hints of menthol, dark fruits, tart cake, sweet cream, and luscious fruit pastry filling, with some oaky tannins and old wood notes. [2, 3, 10, 18]
Palate
Full-bodied and robust, with a clean and tangy central palate. Flavors of sherry, creamy barley, gingerbread, nutty chocolate, big fruit with acidic qualities, cream, raspberries, tart fruit, and custard. Some oak, fruitcake, dried fruit, hazelnut, and chocolate orange. [2, 3, 9, 10, 18]
Finish
Very long and complex, oak-rich, with hints of smoke, cocoa, and buttery notes. Intense, long-lasting, dry and malty, with a beautiful dark chocolate taste. Lingering oak, dried fruit, and gentle spice, with a dry and bitter quality from the oak and notes of wood and tobacco. [2, 3, 9, 10, 18]
