Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This is a well-preserved example of the old Glenfarclas 8 year old from the 1980s, described as a soft, supple fruity old-style Speyside whisky.

Nose
Hints of dry fruits, raisins, caramel, and toffee, with notes of diced-almond-topped apple pie, cinnamon, hay, honey, and a creamy, sweet fir honey and blood orange aroma.
Palate
Nutty and buttery, with malty cereal, caramel, and faint cinnamon or nutmeg. It also presents some sherry influences, with a slight chocolatey development.
Finish
Short, with more spice, a hint of pepper, vanilla fudge, red apple slices, and a touch of marmalade and damp wood.
