Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit.

Nose
Very yeasty and bready, slightly dusty, with a whiff of wet cardboard. Notes of yellow apples, hay, light vanilla, citrus, and hints of schnapps.
Palate
Diluted with vague sweetness and fruits. Malty notes, almonds, bitter vanilla, nutmeg, mocha, milk chocolate, caramel biscuits, dried grasses, and bitter orange. Nutty and buttery with some grassiness, growing slightly chocolatey.
Finish
Rather short, with marmalade, damp wood, malty notes, vanilla fudge, raisins, red apple slices, and mossy earthiness.
