Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This 12 Year Old 'All Malt Unblended' expression was bottled in the 1970s by Grant Bonding Co. Ltd. for the Italian market.

Nose
Fresh and light, with sherried fruit, spicy sweetness, and a hint of sappy oak. Notes of melted brown sugar, dairy toffee, green apple, juicy raisins, prunes, warm earth, hay, and cinnamon sugar.
Palate
Full-bodied with sherried fruit, oak, and sweet sensations. Date and walnut cake, Oloroso sherry influence, toffee apple, vanilla, banana, peach, apricot, malty cereal, brown sugar, flaky pastry, weak apple cordial, shredded orange peel, marmalade, and dark honey.
Finish
Long and flavorsome with lingering spiciness. Creamy coffee, faint Oloroso, crushed walnuts, apple skin, toffee flakes, faint hay, allspice, and orange peel.
