Description

Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Biohazard / Resident Evil 25th Anniversary. Glenfarclas is considered by many to be one of the finest distilleries in Speyside. Its direct-fired stills produce a heavy single malt that is almost exclusively matured in Jerez sherry casks. The distillery focuses on single malt over blends, and a cool microclimate around the distillery that means that their casks are particularly stingy to the "angels," resulting in an incredible depth of stock. This bottling celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil game, known as Biohazard in Japan, which was released in 1996. It was bottled at cask strength and made exclusive to Japan in late 2021.

Nose
Floral with meadow flowers and fragrant oak, classic sherry sweetness of brown sugar, dates, raisins, dried orange, and cranberry, with hints of Turkish Delight, earthiness, nuttiness, coffee, strawberry jam, malty baked bread, honey, zesty fruits, and vanilla pod.
Palate
Waxy and smooth, highly complex with classic sherry cask influence of raisins, figs, and dates, transforming into nuttiness (walnut cake), coffee, strawberry jam, butter, and baked bread. Incredibly clean with tangy, zingy top notes, creamy barley, gingerbread, nutty chocolate, sherry spice, stewed fruits, light tobacco, and mellow maltiness.
Finish
Intense, very long, sweet, and spicy, with fruits, berries, and raisins, accompanied by a hint of spice and red apple tartness. Oak-rich, with hints of smoke, cocoa, buttery notes, and typical old-wood astringency, orange peel, white chocolate, over-boiled green tea, dark chocolate, coffee, and toffee.
