Description

The fifth limited edition bottling from the Family Collector Series, this small batch Speyside Single Malt was distilled on 26th September 1986 and matured for 29 years in specially selected refill sherry butts (cask numbers 3454 and 3457). It was bottled on 19th May 2016 at cask strength 53.8% ABV. This release is dedicated to current chairman John L.S. Grant, representing the fifth generation of the Grant family to own the distillery. Only 1094 bottles were released globally.

Lightly spicy fruity dark chocolate, sweet leather/tobacco, dried dark cherries, raisins. (w/ water) Softens everything up, more milk chocolate than dark chocolate. Deep, complex, and full of character, it unveils a stunning aromatic palette of dried fruits, warm spices, dark chocolate, and exquisite rancio.
Palate
Very thick mouthfeel, cayenne heat/sweet, dark chocolate mole, rich syrupy/oily dark raisins, dark dried cherry sweet, leather/tobacco richness/bitterness. (w/ water) Softens the heat considerably, more dark chocolate covered dark stone fruits, more balanced leathery sweet.
Finish
Lingering fruity pepper heat/tingle, dark syrupy raisin/dried cherry sweet, light leather/tobacco tannic bittersweet dryness. (w/ water) More balanced dark raisin/cherry w/ dark chocolate, tiny sprinkle of sweet cayenne heat, pleasant sweet fruity leather/tobacco. Very faint wisp of ashy smoke at the very end.
