Nose
A lovely interplay of mineral, oak & dried fruit. Linseed oil, modeling clay, malty, lots of old dusty oak. Expected dried fruits (figs, dates), Marzipan pastries, a little clove & ginger & oxidized/yeasty wine notes. Fresh grassy & crisp fruit underneath.
Palate
Dry spicy oak, roasted walnuts, cocoa, dried apricot & dates, honey and black pepper, with a slight hint of sulphur. Complex and round with fruits like raisins, plums and sultanas, a hint of dark chocolate, nuts, and oak.
Finish
Astringent oak tannins, lots of woody spices, a little earthiness and a return of cocoa and dried fruits, leaning on raisins. Long lasting.
