Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. Opulent aromas of dark chocolate, dried fruits, toasted almond, orange peel, and a subtle hint of oak. Notes of soft green apple, malty biscuits, chocolate-coated raisin, golden syrup, manuka honey, peanut brittle, and oak spice, with hints of florals, lavender, and damp, earthy mushroom.
Palate
Luxurious and velvety texture with rich notes of Christmas cake, toffee, orange peel, deep sultana, dried fig, and dark chocolate. Layers of Oloroso-sherry-derived sweetness, golden syrup, juicy dried fruit, dried orange, citrus oils, stewed apple with cinnamon, fruit cake, milk chocolate, and espresso.
Finish
Long, warming, and intense with soft cigar-box spice, oak-rich notes, hints of smoke, cocoa, buttery, chocolate cake, glazed orange, winter spice, cherry, leather, and a whisper of nutty smokiness.
