Description

This famous bottling of Glenfiddich is the second release of their 50-year-old expression. It was created from a marriage of two exceptional casks, one from 1955 and one from 1957, which had matured for 50 years in Warehouse 8. The whiskies were married for six months in an American oak barrel before bottling in 2009. Only 500 bottles were produced, with 50 released globally each year. Each hand-blown bottle is decorated with Scottish silver, sealed with a waxed engraved medallion, and presented in a hand-stitched leather case with a leather-bound book and certificate of authenticity.

Nose
A beautifully harmonious, uplifting, vibrant and complex aroma. Delicate rose petal and violets intertwine with green tobacco leaf, oak and faint hints of smoke. Tropical notes, primarily mango, and ample floral character. Rich orange peel and clementine meet complex notes of Madeira cake and muscovado sugar.
Palate
Initially very sweet, with zesty orange marmalade and vanilla toffee, cascading through layer after layer of aromatic herb, floral and soft fruits, silky oak tannin and gentle smoke. Lingering sweetness softens into deep, silky smooth oak tannin and sun-dried vanilla. Exotic fruit spirits such as pineapple, apricot and passion fruit, with a pinch of saddle soap, aged Gouda, campfire embers, toffee, pipe tobacco, orange marmalade and vintage leather.
Finish
Exceptionally long, with a touch of dry oak and the merest trace of peat. Oaky, sweet and incredibly long-lasting. Long fruity flavour.
