Description

Grande Couronne is the latest release within the Glenfiddich Grand Series. It spends 26 years maturing in American and European oak casks before a final finishing in rare French Cognac casks for two years, expertly delivering an unparalleled depth and complexity of flavours, reminiscent of a French patisserie. This single malt Scotch whisky is the epitome of opulence, offering sweet toasted oak and velvety aromas of café crème, brown sugar and soft spice. Nose
Vibrant and lively with an abundance of toasty oak sweetness, reminiscent of a French pâtisserie, freshly-baked Tarte Tatin and buttery choux pastry. Also notes of sweet brioche, vanilla, soft oak, baked apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, subtle florals, orchard fruits (peach, pear, apricot), honey, pineapple, marzipan, sugar paste, and subtle nuttiness.
Palate
Deep, velvety smooth and indulgently sweet. Café crème with soft brown sugar and a hint of spice. Also creamy toffee, ripe figs, almond, vanilla, honey, chocolate, and oak spice. Some mention a mild nuttiness, citrusy sourness, pepper, grape must, maple syrup, and buttery freshness.
Finish
Very long-lasting sweet oak. Also elegant, smooth, lingering sweetness, oak tannins, delicate spice, and velvety close. The Cognac cask finish is accentuated.
