Description

The Glenglassaugh distillery, founded in 1873 by James Moir, has a turbulent history with multiple closures and revivals. After being acquired by the BenRiach Distillery Company in 2013 and later Brown-Forman in 2016, the distillery focuses on single malt releases. This Glenglassaugh 12 Year Old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, aged for 12 years, and matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and red wine casks, embodying a signature coastal style. Nose
Sweet coastal waves of ripe apricot and fig meld with toasted vanilla and tropical flora, carried on a warm ocean breeze, with notes of juicy peaches, honey, cashew nuts, danishes, vanilla, honeysuckle, and a slight saline note.
Palate
Rich, creamy waves of candied pistachio, dates, and sweet fig lead into juicy morello cherry and whipped cream textures, infused with fresh coastal air. Notes of heathery, earthy, and slightly wine-y character, with strawberry wine gums, red berry jam, ginger, lemon, caramel, cherry, and toasted hazelnut.
Finish
Long and elegant, sweet, lightly salty, with a refined maritime echo. Lingering ginger, honey, fruit tart, and 'dying embers from an oceanside fire', with a gingery prickle, red berry jam, lemon oil, and sweet earthiness.
