Description

A malt distillery located outside the village of Portsoy in the eastern Highland region. Part of The Benriach Distillery Company group, it has been owned by the Brown-Foreman Corporation in the US since 2016. Despite a turbulent early history, it has become an well-established brand in recent years. The distillery was established in 1875, closed from 1907 to 1931, operated until 1936, rebuilt in 1960, and then mothballed in 1986. It reopened in 2008.
