Description

Glenglassaugh's Peated Virgin Oak Wood expression is well worth acquiring. The distillery's traditional peated whisky spent two years finishing in eponymous Virgin oak, giving aromas of toasted oak, boiled sweets, new leather and toffee. Glorious.

Nose
Creamy vanilla with toasted oak spice, candy store confectionery, and crisp freshly peated barley. Initially sweet peat, oak spices, and dried coconut, evolving to clean smoke, hints of sea breeze, warm wooden deck, honeyed peaches, and apricots.
Palate
Crisp oak, hints of candied ginger, boiled sweets, and brittle toffee, all surrounded by deliciously sweet peat smoke. Sweet and dry peat smoke, slightly ashy, with prominent sweet spicy oak and honey, and a hint of coconut. A brief fruity burst is followed by vanilla and honey.
Finish
Medium-length finish featuring peat smoke, honey, fruit, and a lasting spicy oak. Dry wood and dry smoke.
