Description

Glengoyne is a Highland distillery known for its slow distillation rate, the slowest of any Scottish distillery. This 21-year-old expression is matured entirely in hand-selected sherry casks, specifically 100% first-fill European oak ex-sherry casks, mainly Oloroso with some Pedro Ximénez. The production process involves a complete lack of peat, highlighting the contribution of the barley to the flavour. This expression was first introduced in 2007 and is part of Glengoyne's core range.

Nose
Very fruity and sweet with black berries, blue berries, figs, honey, and dates, balanced by leather and nutty notes. Red apples, apple strudel, fresh barley, raisin fruit, toasted almond, and light cinnamon spice are also present.
Palate
Richly sherried with red and white fruits, cacao, dark chocolate, and honeyed sweetness. Tangy and spiced, with molasses, hot apple cider, stewed pear, and faint sappy pine. Some spiciness, warmth, and cinnamon.
Finish
Long with hints of leather, cacao, dark chocolate, and lingering pine sap, dry oak, and spice. Ends with Oloroso and sweet malt, with a subtle Christmas cake and cinnamon character.
