Description

Glengoyne's tribute to the daily dram that the Distillery folk enjoyed three times each day from the copper teapot in the distillery canteen. Exclusive to the Distillery and presented at full warehouse strength, this is a unique vatting of 5 young 1st fill sherry casks. Up until the early 1980s Glengoyne's men were given three large drams of cask strength Glengoyne a day - breakfast, lunch and afternoon break. Once a week the Brewer, Ron Low, and the excise men would select the best first fill sherry cask they could find to become that week's dram.

Very sweet, with rum raisin, caramel, cherry liqueur, strawberry jam, bananas, vanilla, fresh figs, star anise, cinnamon, polished exotic wood, chocolate, dried apricots, orange marmalade, gingerbread, malt, intense dark fruits, clove, oaky chocolate, fudge brownies, dark brown sugar, black raisins, sweet vanillas, herbal cough drop, mixed fruit cake, earthy coffee, anise seed liqueur, toffee, banana, and coconut.
Palate
Syruppy, very sweet, thick taste, dark chocolate, rum raisin, cherry syrup, sherry notes, spices, strong attack, varnished wood, pepper, treacle, tobacco, liquorice, sweet plum spirit, red apples, grilled pineapples, dried fruits (cranberries, apricots, peaches), dark chocolate coated orange segments, ginger, clove, black peppers, maple syrup, cigar, dark honey, and pronounced wood notes.
Finish
Long and oily, strong chocolate flavour, raisins, dry and spicy, cinnamon powder, lingering dried fruits, woody cinnamon, dried cranberries, warm and spicy with a buttery texture, drying and woody with intensifying notes of Oloroso, wood varnish and tannins.
