Description

Sitting on the Highland/Lowland border, Glengoyne distills its whisky in the Highlands and matures it in the Lowlands. Founded in 1833, under the name Burnfoot, the distillery is now owned by Ian MacLeod distillers, which champions its slow distillation process and a complete lack of peat as well as a rigorous approach to its sherry cask selection. This Glengoyne 2005 Distillery Cask #38 was distilled on 12th January 2005 and bottled on 5th September 2020 at a cask strength of 55.6% ABV from a single sherry butt. It is a distillery exclusive bottling.

Nose
Full aroma, fruity sweetness, dried fruit, raisins, caramel, nuts, subtle oak aromas that seem older than the calculated maturation period, wet leather, subtle cocoa aromas, a little lovage.
Palate
Soft, extremely sweet, syrupy, an incredible fruitiness, raisins, hints of forest honey, lots of dried fruit, caramel, milk chocolate, the oak spice has a hard time in the mouth, freshly cleaned leather.
Finish
Long finish, raisins, forest honey, still the clear fruit sweetness, which also lasts for a very long time, at the end a slight dryness sets in, the wood aromas can never really assert themselves in the finish.
