Description

Glenkinchie was originally founded in 1825 and launched under the name Milton. The distillery was cherry picked by Diageo to represent the finest of the lowland whisky region in their Classic Malts range of 1988. Situated in Pencaitland, East Lothian, 'kinchie' is a derivative of the name 'De Quincy', the family name of the original farmland owners upon which the distillery was built. The distillery is known for its light, fruity, and delicate spirit. This 2007 vintage Distillers Edition from Glenkinchie has been double matured in Amontillado sherry casks, adding layers of nutty richness and dried fruit to the whisky's naturally light and floral style.

Nose
Crisp, complex, with a balance of drier wine notes and sweeter, nutty notes of barley and cask wood. Honey sweet and very fruity on peach, green grapes, Granny Smith apples, almond shavings, and vanilla.
Palate
Lightly oily and sweetly malty, becoming spicy with rich dried fruit hints of raisin and date. Creamy-smooth, with a lightly grapey sweetness balanced by warming wood-spice. Enormously malty with tropical fruitiness (mango, sultanas) and white pepper.
Finish
Long, attractively drying and oaky, with light white pepper-spice and faint peppery notes. Uber fruity and a tiny bit spicy.
