Nose
Brisk, sharp, and brittle. Complex and excellent; astonishing balance between sweet and dry. Firmer, drier notes from soft vanillins and crisp grape; sweeter, nuttier ones from malted barley, and cask wood. Dried apricots and sultanas, with some toasted almond, and warming woody spice.
Palate
Dry, after early biscuity-sweetness. Enormous malt character contrasts with thin fruitiness of the grape. Creamy malt, with some light fruitcake, green grapes, and drying, peppery spice. Initially sweet, high quality sherry that gracefully moves to velvety Marashino cherry, giving way to dry, spicy cinnamon sticks.
Finish
Very long, dry, oaky. Very faint peppery notes and spice. Drying and spicy. Attractively drying and oaky, while lightly white pepper-spicy.
