Description

This Glenlivet 1983 Cellar Collection French Oak Finish is a 20-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2003. It is part of Glenlivet's esteemed Cellar Collection, a series of limited edition releases. The whisky initially matured for 17 years in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks, followed by a three-year finishing period in lightly toasted French Limousin oak casks. This bottling, selected by Master Distiller Jim Cryle, is noted for its spicy character and complexity, with 8,000 bottles produced worldwide.

Nose
Tight, fragrant with notes of cinnamon, clove, apple, heather, and crisp fruits like apples/pears. It also presents sweet, sugary notes with hints of sherry/wine, oak, vanilla, and toasted wood, caramel, and toffee, suggesting a mixture of Bourbon and Sherry casks.
Palate
Rich and thick, with sweet fruits balanced by spicy oak, a velvet, almost buttery mouthfeel. Notes of creamy sherry, vanilla, distant sweet Moscatel wine, lush nectarine, white peach, acacia honey, winter spice, liquorice, and cut fennel.
Finish
Long, smooth, crisp, and balanced with a warming heat. It is clean and dry, with chewy, spiced oak and a touch of spices.
