Description

A Speyside malt distillery that operates almost entirely in service of the blends Scotch brands of its owner, Diageo. While its single malt is regularly available from independent bottlers, the only permanent official release from the distillery has been its Flora & Fauna bottling.

Nose
The nose is peculiar. It's definitely leaning heavily towards rum. Marmalade and sugar. Not a rum-finished whisky, but actual rum. It has more to it though - sandalwood, apples and vanilla ice cream. Bit of dessert wine. For a PX finish, it doesn't quite cross the line into the deep raisin notes. It stays on the sweet-but-fresh side.
Palate
Quite a bite with some woody tones up front. Sweetness, of course. A little dry wood spice, a good bit of sherry influence. Wine gums. Nice and thick mouthfeel.
Finish
The sherry becomes more apparent the further we go along. Wood spice, dried fruits. Warmth builds up slowly. At the very end, the dessert wine from the nose makes a loud comeback, nicely closing the circle. The taste of sugar and honey stays on the tongue a long time, and some waxiness lingers in the roof of the mouth.
