Description

This Glenmorangie 12 Year Old Barrel Select Release Amontillado Finish is the fourth bottling in the distillery's Barrel Select Release series of small-batch single malts. It was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels for eight years before being transferred to ex-Amontillado sherry casks, sourced from the Miguel Martin Sherry bodega in Spain, for a further four years of finishing. Crafted by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation, this non-chill filtered expression is bottled at 46% ABV and offers a delicate, nutty, and spicy profile. It was released in early 2023 and was made available exclusively to Australia and the UK.

Sweet aromas of golden syrup, sultana, ripe peach, hazelnut, walnut, floral notes, ginger-like spice, rose, carnation, jasmine, fragrant candle wax, cashew nuts, dried fruit, orange and poppy seed cake, toasted almond, and a whisper of cinnamon.
Palate
Silky and sweet with honeyed notes, vanilla custard, golden syrup, hazelnut praline, orange oil, canned tropical fruit, peaches, dried fruits (sultana, candied orange), toasted hazelnuts, walnuts, almond oil, cocoa bean, gingerbread, clove, cinnamon, orange sherbet, lemon balsam, eucalyptus oil, walnut oil, leather, fruit & nut chocolate, ginger snaps, rich sherried oak, and pepper.
Finish
Long and enjoyable, becoming drier, oakier, and spicier with a mouthwatering quality. Notes of warming gingerbread, toasted oak, honey, expressive fruit, vanilla, butterscotch, honey-glazed nuts, old leather, salted almonds, fragrant tobacco, liquorice, and crackles of pepper, with a slow and lingering aniseed.
