Description

Glenmorangie 1990 Grand Vintage is the first release in the Bond House No.1 Collection, a series of vintage expressions from Glenmorangie's original 19th-century warehouse. This spectacular single malt was distilled in 1990 from a particularly challenging barley harvest and matured for a quarter of a century in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Sherry casks before being bottled in 2016 at 43% ABV. The Bond House No.1 was transformed into the distillery's stillhouse in 1990, making this one of the final vintages to be warehoused there. It has received numerous accolades, including a Liquid Gold Award from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017 and a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017.

Nose
A cornucopia of heady floral and fruity notes; heather honey, honeysuckle and freesia mingle with orange blossom, candied fruits, mandarin, pear and apple, supplemented by a distinctive note of beeswax.
Palate
Silky, creamy and mouth coating, delightfully mellow and gentle. Succulent, sweet flavours of orange syrup, puff candy, honeycomb, vanilla, and some zesty, herbal top notes of gooseberry and menthol.
Finish
The fruitiness continues with baked apples and pears, then deeper notes of brown-sugar, malty/biscuit flavours and the gentlest hint of clove and oak tannin.
