Description

This spectacular release is part of the distillery's Bond House No.1 Collection, a series of bottlings from Glenmorangie's original 19th century warehouse. Bond House No.1 was transformed into the distillery's stillhouse in 1990 in order to increase production capacity. The fourth in the series, this is a vatting of just two parcels of casks. Both were initially matured in bourbon wood, then one was finished for over a decade in Oloroso casks, and the other in Burgundy casks.

Nose
Mellow, deep, intense and fruity with apricots, plum, baked apples, chocolate, gentle oak, truffles, star anise, and cigar box aromas. Hints of fudge and toffee, and with water, hickory-smoked ham and damp forest floor.
Palate
Complex, powerful, and peppery with a noticeable chew from wood tannins. Fruity notes of dark cherry, classic Glenmorangie peachy notes, milk chocolate, stewed apples, plum, and ripe red fruits like cherry and raspberry. Sweet-tart, candy-citrusy zing, creamy dark fruit, vanilla, and deep oak.
Finish
Rather long with honey and salted caramel. Zesty citrus, oak, fruit, sweet spices, and deeper notes of brown sugar, malty/biscuit flavors, and a hint of clove. A subtle savory, almost salty sea air note.
