Description

The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, part of Glenmorangie's extra-matured range. It is initially matured for ten years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before undergoing an additional two years of maturation in specially selected ruby Port pipes from the Douro Valley in Portugal. This non-chill filtered expression, bottled at 46% ABV, was launched in 2010 and was later replaced by a 14-year-old version in 2019. It is known for its rich, dark fruit character and velvety texture.

Nose
Warm and richly fruity with dried dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, honey, cocoa, and fresh grapes. Hints of chocolate, oranges, sandalwood, and spices like pepper and nutmeg. Some floral notes and a sweet, cool, earthy aroma reminiscent of a port wine cellar.
Palate
Velvety and smooth mouthfeel with sticky dried dark fruit, caramel, oak, roasted malt, cocoa, and citrus peel. Notes of mint chocolate, Turkish delight, walnuts, salted caramel, cherry, and brown sugar sweetness. Port sugars dominate with jammy plum, stewed cherry, and a Malteser/Whopper note. Peppery sweetness and spices like baking spice and clove are also present.
Finish
Medium to long, silky aftertaste with dark chocolate mints, traces of orange, dried dark fruit, citrus peels, copper, and baking spice fading to oak. Spicy and peppery with vanilla, wood, and a slight hint of grapes. Warm brown sugar and very mild chocolate bitterness.
