Description

Glenmorangie The Duthac is part of the Glenmorangie Legends series, single malts created exclusively for travel retail. This whisky pays homage to St Duthac, whose grave lies near the distillery in Tain, and to King James IV, who made an annual pilgrimage to the saint's shrine. It is matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry and charred virgin oak casks.

Nose
Seductive aromas of pear, toffee apple, Brazil nuts in toffee, with an underlying spicy note, some toasty oak. Fresh, sultanas, vanilla, red berries, oranges, some honey notes, cinnamon, a bit of dark chocolate. Rich, deep and sweet. Dried fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg and cool herbs. Marzipan and almond paste with time.
Palate
Mouth-filling and silky, showcasing milk chocolate, leather, aniseed, and a gentle spiciness of ginger and clove. Slightly sweet, fruity (apricots, yellow apples), spicy (peppers, ginger), black currant notes, burnt caramel, some bitterness. Medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate and coffee. White pepper and vanilla.
Finish
A long, creamy conclusion with hints of vanilla, marzipan, and apricots in cream. Short, sweet, oaky and slightly bitter, walnut shells, notes of malt. Medium long. Orange marmalade, toasted oak, vanilla, milk chocolate, cream pastry and marzipan.
