Piquant fruits meet earthy, leathery depth.
The appeal here is the contrast: an earthy, leathery nose with subtle waxiness, followed by piquant fruit on the palate. That gives the character a savoury side without pushing the fruit out of view, and the palate is described as well-composed. I find that balance more engaging than a straightforward fruit-led character. The notes give the nose and palate distinct roles without suggesting that either one overwhelms the other.
At 55.4% ABV, this is a high-strength bottling, though that figure alone does not say how the alcohol will feel. Piquant fruit alongside earthy, leathery notes gives it a savory edge. The meaty character may be less appealing to someone looking for a gentler, sweeter style.
Piquant fruit, earthy edges.
