Description

This is a 24-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Glenrothes distillery, independently bottled by Wm Cadenhead's as part of their Small Batch series. Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, is known for its philosophy of bottling natural spirits without chill filtration or added coloring. Distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2015, this expression was matured in sherry butts, yielding 966 bottles.

Nose
Full blown sherry with raisins, chocolate, dark berries, tobacco, and a woody dryness. Mildly sulphury/rubbery notes are also present, along with walnut fudge, hazelnut, marzipan, and sticky date pudding/vanilla.
Palate
A huge bittersweet attack with early sugars giving way to intense paprika, marzipan, cocoa, light raisin cake, dried fruits, wild dark berries, and woodiness.
Finish
Dry and peppery with bittersweet oak and mild sulphur, leather, and some freshness (citric or ginger-like notes). Medium length with sweet toffee and green fruits persisting.
