Description

This Glenrothes 1997 was independently bottled by Signatory Vintage as part of their Decanter Collection. It was distilled in 1997 and matured for 22 years in a single sherry cask before being bottled in 2019. Signatory Vintage was founded by Andrew Symington in 1988 and is known as one of the largest independent bottlers in Scotland.

Nose
Initially slightly floral with lots of malt, then fruity-sweet aromas of juicy raisins, dates and figs develop, with subtle spicy hints in the background. Notes of ginger, allspice, baked apple, sultanas, dried apricot, and dark malt.
Palate
Malty notes paired with freshly baked bread with butter, sweeter with vanilla and dark chocolate behind. Thick, fruity dram with notes of ginger, allspice, baked apple, sultanas, dried apricot, sherried oak, raspberry jam, dark malt and slight vanilla.
Finish
Long and full with noticeably spicy oak and ground pepper, overall butterscotch and ripe berries.
