Nose
Unusually fragrant with notes of mellow, soft fruits, citrus, and honey. Hints of caramel, dark red grapes, dark chocolate-covered almonds, and vanilla custard. Underlying notes of polished oak, allspice, nutmeg, clove, candied ginger, raisins, stewed prunes, fig paste, spiced orange, and nutty marzipan. Some youthful edges are present but unobtrusive.
Palate
Soft, silky, and creamy mouthfeel. Dominated by red berry fruits, honey, and vanilla. Notes of caramel, juicy dark red grapes, and dark chocolate-covered almonds. A noticeable oak influence with baking spices like allspice, nutmeg, clove, and candied ginger. Hints of citrus, walnuts, and a slight fiery sharpness.
Finish
Mid to long, with lingering citrus, honeyed vanilla, and a faint reminder of sherry casks. Tannic oak and baking spices fade with a pleasant sweetness. Can be dry with notes of leather and shoe polish, evolving into gentle milk chocolate and nuttiness.
