Description

This spectacular 30-year-old Speyside single malt was distilled at Glenrothes in May 1989 and bottled by Douglas Laing in April 2020. It is an exceptional entry into their Xtra Old Particular Black Series, a range dedicated to their finest and rarest antique single cask whiskies. This release was yielded from a single refill sherry butt.

Nose
Immediately Sherried – juicy forest fruits, mocha and cracked black pepper – alongside charred oak with a hint of vanilla. Intensive dark fruits like berries and plums, pepper, spices, mocha, and chocolate.
Palate
Thick and moreish, bursting with cinnamon, brown sugar cubes, orange rind and honeycomb. Full-bodied and oily on the tongue, deep fruit sweetness and honey balanced by leather, coffee, oak, earthy notes, and cinnamon.
Finish
Goes on and on with much that has gone before plus ripe plums and cocoa. Long-lasting and spicy sweet with wood notes, coconut, and sherry.
