Description

This is an independently bottled Glentauchers single malt, matured for 21 years and bottled by Chorlton Whisky. It was drawn from a tiny octave cask that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry. Chorlton Whisky is known for bottling at natural strength from a single cask with no colouring or chill-filtering, and their releases are recognisable by striking artwork on their labels. This particular bottling was released in 2018, with only 73 bottles produced. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 5, 7, 9, 10]

Nose
Big fat PX sherry – sticky and full of expressive aromas. Plenty of cocoa powder alongside chocolate sauce and royal icing.
Palate
Thick, coating and clingy. Caramel sauce, butterscotch, Dulce de leche and cocoa nibs sit with sultanas, raisins and fig rolls.
Finish
Medium with sticky toffee pudding, fading berry preserves and discernible, but pliable tannins – rather well hidden by the continued viscosity of the liquid.
