Nose
Deep and rich with bursting spice, prunes, cherry sauce, canned peaches, tobacco leaf, and a hint of magic marker. Notes of new leather, Eccles cakes, stewed prunes, baked apples, dates, figs, candied aniseed twists, blackcurrant boiled sweets, tar, and barrel char. Hints of melting milk chocolate, fudge, and old leather-bound books.
Palate
Warming spice, cracked black pepper, and dark fruits. Extremely rich and balanced, with prominent sherry notes of prunes, plum sauce, raisins, sweet bean paste, and maraschino cherry. Herbal notes of thyme and mint. Thick and fruity, with caramel apples, chocolate-covered strawberries, raspberry, dark grapes, star anise, and lady fingers dusted with cocoa powder. Dark chocolate-covered espresso beans emerge as it opens.
Finish
Long and sweet, revealing macerated fruits, hot coffee, toffee, and crushed nuts. Rich, thick, and fruity sherry notes persist, with plum sauce, cherry soda, sweet bean paste, fruit tea, and grape candies. Hefty oak, woody thyme, and a slightly spicy warmth, giving way to marscapone and muddled brandied cherries.
