Description

Opening in late 2017 and as one of the new kids on the block, GlenWyvis was started with the intention of rejuvenating rural Dingwall by introducing a community-run 'craft' distillery. It was John McKenzie - a helicopter pilot who developed his interest in whisky by flying passengers to remote distilleries - who had the idea to combine the names of lost distilleries, Ben Wyvis and Glenskiach and l ... This particular release is a 2018 vintage, single cask bottling, matured in a first-fill Oloroso Quarter Cask and bottled in October 2024 as a Highland Exclusive. It is non-chill filtered and has natural color. GlenWyvis is Scotland's first 100% community-owned distillery, focusing on sustainability and local engagement.

Nose
Aromatic layers of dark raisins, dates and spiced fruit loaf, alongside polished oak, treacle, cocoa nibs and hints of citrus peel and clove. Dry, nutty character with almonds, burnt caramel, prunes, and orange peel.
Palate
Rich, powerful and full-bodied. Bursts of dried fruit, toffee, dark chocolate and toasted nuts develop over a foundation of sherried sweetness and lively oak spice. Dark fruit, raisins, figs, black cherry, and a flash of oak spice and clove.
Finish
Long, warming and confidently robust. Lingering notes of fruit cake, cocoa, nutmeg and seasoned oak leave a deep and satisfying impression. Dry, medium length, with wood tannins, bitter cocoa, leather, and warming spice.
