For a period, Campbeltown was the undisputed Whisky Capital of the World, boasting over 30 distilleries operating simultaneously at its peak. Locally available peat, barley and coal, coupled with a quick steamship service to Glasgow meant this thriving industry lasted into the early 20th Century. Salt-crusted, still smouldering driftwood, liquid-biscuit malt, rustic hessian, toasted and honeycombed caramel, Chinese apple fritters, polished brass bannisters, lemon juice, dark honey, dried pineapple, saline, dried apricot, pears in syrup, a little iodine.
Palate
Werthers original, Locket lozenge, apple skins, blowtorch, over-toasted lotus biscoff crumbs, cracked pepper, oily, mouthcoating, honeyed sweetness.
Finish
Caramel apple, Stroopwafel, coppery and ashy mineral bitterness, burnt coffee grounds, humming birds eye chilli, white pepper, Springbank peanut brittle, drying tannins.
