Description

A malt distillery on the Isle of Harris that commenced production in 2015. Founded by Anderson Bakewell, the distillery was intended to provide a long-term employment solution to the dwindling island population. Its single malt is called Hearach and it also produces the popular eponymous gin label. The first ever single malt brand to be produced on the Isle of Harris in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. This particular bottling, 'The 1,916', is a limited release of 1,916 bottles, paying tribute to the 1,916 residents of the island.

Nose
Definite apple and pear sweetness with light florals, a hint of peat like embers, sweet green apples, green grape, and a slightly sour fruitiness. Light minerals and a damp, slight smoke.
Palate
Caramel hard candy, ripe pear and apple sauce with a gentle mouthfeel. Pleasant and complimentary peat, honeyed malt, stewed apples, spicy peat, toasted malt, toasted oak, and a hint of spicy Oloroso sherry. Light and sweet with a mid-palate peat hit.
Finish
Easy and long with soft peat, clotted cream, new leather, and a very slight sourness. Briny and a little salty, with a short finish.
