Nose
Rich, dense, combining rich peat, castor oil and ash, with animal tones (leather, bacon). Becomes increasingly medicinal (tiger balm) and empyreumatic (sleet, turpentine) with air. Fragrances of roasted apple, curry and roasted pineapple are also released. Sea spray and salinity overlay a deeply sweet, honeyed presence. Hints of peat open up to warm leather and earthy smoke, while subtle notes of stone fruit play at the edges.
Palate
Powerful, lively. Oily peat permeates the palate, filled with mineral salts and marine plants. Acrid yet heady flavours of Havana cigar take over, gradually covering it in intense smoke and ash. Sweet vanillin and lemon meringue pie initially envelop the palate, followed closely by a smoky and savoury hit. Fresh peach and nectarine present.
Finish
Long, rich. Chocolate and vanilla notes rival each other in intensity. Peat takes control of the infinitely smooth palette of flavours. Candied pear and heady florals (mimosa, nasturtium) appear alongside especially crisp malted flavours in the after-taste. Smoke and brine duet in harmony with honey and citrus accents.
